About the Designer

Julie is a Canadian designer who loves to work with beautiful leathers and hand crafted detailing. She began Source Apparel with the belief that ethically produced fashion should be both timeless and affordable. As a result, each belt, or accessory is designed and handmade in Canada to last a lifetime. There are a few Celtic influences in the line, and these reflect her family's Irish ancestry.

Source Apparel only uses full grain, vegetable tanned leather. No traces of chemicals such as chrome, aluminum, titanium or zirconium are used in the tanning process. Instead, high-pressure water is used to clean the hides. We employ a timeless technique to soften the leather called tumbling, which gives each belt, cuff or accessory a buttery soft texture.

Once the leather is delivered to Canada, Julie's designs come to life in a studio just outside of Toronto, Ontario. Every person who plays a role in the development of the product is paid fairly and is treated with respect.

"The logo for Source Apparel is a constant reminder to be grateful for the opportunity to do something I love, to do it well and with consideration for the planet, and the people I work with."
